Google Jelly Bean Tablet @ $125

Karbonn Mobiles has unveiled 7-inch Jelly Bean Tablet which is using Google's latest OS at the price of around $125. Due to which the prices of tablets running with Android 4.1 OS are being dropped. Two months back Google's Nexus 7 was announced which starts at $199 which is almost $75 costlier than the latest release.

This 7-inch screen tablet runs on a single-core MIPS processor at a clock speed of 1.2GHz. It has a 2-megapixel front camera, 3G support through a dongle, and seven hours of battery life. It has 32GB of expandable storage and is likely to be a micro-SD slot. Google's Nexus 7 is having quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, a 7-inch high-resolution screen and up to 16GB of internal storage.

Few models of Tablets with MIPS processors have not been popular despite the low price under $150.  It had a plan of releasing new 7-inch tablet Miumiu W1 with .2GHz MIPS processor, a front camera, a micro SD slot from Chinese company Ramos in India, Latin America and Europe. MIPS is competing against ARM, whose processors go into most tablets such as Apple's iPad. According to analysts, the new MIPS processors are more power efficient and faster comparable to current ARM processors in performance.

GOOGLE's WORK CULTURE

Google, almost everyone would go for it if they need any clarification. The Google search engine would be the homepage of majority of user’s desktops. Here I have posted some interesting information about the working culture of Google. It is one of the world's most innovative companies mainly because of its corporate culture and out-of-the-box thinking. From the deep research it is found out that above all factors, the corporate culture that the founders brought with them from the beginning has then been deliberately developed to push the whole company in the direction of constant innovation. Also it focuses on recruiting right people to the organization and develops them. The organization is also structured to add force to the culture and to help its individuals to create innovations in line with the company's philosophy. Many interviewees confirm that they were attracted to company because of the stated value “Doing well is a fourth - "Don't be evil."

I have attached some cool pictures below which would narrate the working culture of Google and also will show how it is different from other companies. You would get a better environment than outside world and you can avail everything which gives you much pleasure to you and your work. There is no restriction on workplace and your pet can join the conference along with your boss.

Guys...how do you feel now. I know you would be striving to get into Google. Its difficult but possible. May the best enjoy and all the best :)

GOOGLE CHROME - Runner in UK

With the speed and a nationwide advertising campaign credited for rise in popularity, Google Chrome has overtaken Firefox to become the UK's second most popular web browser. According to Statcounter web metrics, Chrome has captured 22% of UK users last month. Microsoft's Internet Explorer still remains the most popular browser for UK users with 45%. Apple's Safari is UK number four, with a 9% share. Chrome sources said speed as an essential part of its progress, with minimal design and the way it handles security. Microsoft's IE has fallen heavily, to 43%, with warnings about security vulnerabilities whereas Google with a 20.65% market is making good progress with its announcement of Chromebook laptop based on its browser.

‘Bom Sabado’ Worm Crashes ORKUT

Looks like social networking sites have become soft targets to the hackers. Have you heard the word "Bom Sabado". It means “Good Saturday" in Portuguese, which is the also the official language of Brazil and known to very few percentage of people in the world till last week. But now everyone would have known this not as a word, but as a dreadful worm virus which crashes Google’s Orkut service. It is a cross-site scripting attack which caused orkut flooded with "Bom Sabado" scraps. How it works? Basically it is a JavaScript based worm that spreads itself through Orkut scraps. This worm is an auto generated message which might look like just another scrap from your buddy. The scrap actually embeds a malicious JavaScript code which infects the profile of the person as soon as he opens the scrap page. Soon after this, the code is executed and it will make the user join bot communities automatically. The worm then starts posting similar scraps to the user's friends using his name, thereby spreading it. The worm also steals browser cookies.

Incase if you were affected by this, make sure you clear all your browser cookies and your Orkut password and security question has been changed. It is advisable not to visit any Orkut profile till this script is blocked. Recently, Twitter faced an attack by hackers after a security flaw was unearthed by a user. Soon after, Facebook faced its worst downtime in four years and now its Orkut's turn to be under attack. That is why I mentioned social networking sites as soft target. However they have taken effective steps to solve this issue as soon as possible.

GOOGLE Integrates PICNIK with PICASA

Picasa, an image organizer and viewer for organizing and editing digital photos has been owned by Google since 2004. In March 2010, Google acquired online photo editor Picnik which was expected to be main feature in next coming version of chrome OS. But now they have integrated the impressive Flash-based image editor, Picnik with Picasa Web Albums enabling users to make changes in photographs directly from Picasa using the Edit menu, “Edit with Picnik”.

Picnik allows users to rotate an image, crop, resize, plays on the color saturation or correcting red eyes in the publishing aspects. In the creation part, it will apply various effects with add text, adding frames and stickers and you can explore your own creative path with advanced tools, but not in free of cost as of now. A pro version is available for $4.95 a month that allows access to additional effects and fonts. GOOGLE NOTIFIER for Mac OS

The Google Notifier is a nice tiny application used for Mac OS that regularly checks if you have any incoming email. It is pretty useful except for one tiny problem; there is no way to configure how many minutes you want the application to check your Gmail account. A simple way to get around it is to do the following:

1) Click on the mail icon   2) Hold down command (APPLE) and option (ALT) keys while clicking on preferences in the drop down box. you will be prompted with a box that has a key and value prompt   3) Type “AutocheckInterval” under key (case-sensitive) and then under value type in the number in  minutes of how often you want it checked.   4) You will need to restart the application by quitting and opening it again.   5)  If it does'nt work, manually modify the file in Library/Preferences/com.google.GmailNotifier.plist.   6)  Add the new value AutocheckInterval and the string value is 1 (if you want the notifier to check every minute). It can be customized as per our convenience.

CHROME vs FIREFOX

Google Chrome gained significant usage share last month, and it again trounced Firefox. By the end of April Chrome accounted for 6.7% of the browsers that surfed to the sites monitored by Calif.-based Net Applications for its clients. Chrome boosted its share by 0.6 percentage points, by far the largest increase of any browser for the month, and the second-highest increase since Google launched the application in September 2008. Internet Explorer dropped 0.7 percentage points to finish the month at 59.95%, the first time that IE has fallen under the 60% mark.

Mozilla Firefox, on the other hand, was up last month, albeit by only 0.07 percentage points to 24.6%. Once considered a lock to hit and then move beyond the 25% bar, Firefox has yet to reach the milestone. Mozilla's bright spot was that it has convinced nearly two-thirds of its users to upgrade to the newest Firefox, Version 3.6, which launched in January. By the end of April, 62.3% of all Firefox users were running the newest edition, while 23.6% ran 2009's Firefox 3.5 and 11.2% ran the now-unsupported Firefox 3.0.

Microsoft's newest browser, IE8, also showed strong gains last month as its market share grew by one percentage point to 24.7%; when its "compatibility view" is included, IE8 accounted for 27.6% of all browsers. Apple Inc’s Safari remained at 4.7%. Meanwhile, Opera Software's eponymous desktop browser lost share to end the month at 2.3%

GOOGLE's Street View – Permissible ?

There has been lots of talks regarding Google's Street View effort, as some people feel it is violating individual’s privacy and some people supporting it. Usually the photos that are uploaded online in charging people with crimes are not taken into account by police. Recently, a property owner in Canada was caught red handed with illegal removal of trees after Google's Street View images appear to catch the tree choppers. The Google camera just happened to be passing through the neighborhood when the axing occurred and caught a truck on the site, as well as workmen and a row of fresh tree stumps. It’s not yet clear whether those images will be taken as valid evidence whereas the policemen don’t have any other option. The city’s tree law requires a permit to remove any tree above a certain size. Out of 23 trees, the owner had obtained a permit to remove only two. If this crime is proved it is said that the culprit has to pay the fine for illegal removal ranges between $500 and $20,000 per tree. Whatever may be the result, I am sure that there would be some argument prevailing among the people not about the punishment but about the presence of Google cameras. As per the survey, Canadian authorities have been some of the most resistant to the presence of Google’s controversial cameras in streets. The company launched its Street View service in parts of the U.S. and Canada in 2007 and has since expanded to 12 other countries.

GOOGLE @ 3G AUCTION IN INDIA

Google is looking at Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) / WIMAX in INDIA and is set to participate in the upcoming 3G/WiMAX auction with an Indian partner scheduled on 14th January, 2010. Foreign companies are also allowed to participate in this auction but Non-India companies will need to find Indian partners because foreign companies can buy only up to 74% equity. Google is likely to join with MNTL to bid in the auction. Google shows more interest on Indian 3G which is about to explode as it may have a chance to get into the possibly biggest market of mobile telephony. India is the largest single-country WiMAX opportunity in the world, with most of the major operators actively pursuing WiMAX. Already Google has submitted a proposal to US regulators for clearance to use unused channels, Wi-Fi 2.0 and on which it is possible to offer wireless broadband services at very high speeds. Yet there is an opposition by some people against the inclusion of foreign companies in the auction stating that Indian companies competent for the 3G technology. To know the better result, still we have to wait for two more weeks.

BHUVAN - ISRO's LATEST LAUNCH

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has launched a mapping application website named “BHUVAN” means “Earth” in Sanskrit . The main aim of this design is to give better 3D satellite images of India and provides features of the nation. It looks similar to Google Earth but its design promised to give more extended features than Google especially in its resolution. Bhuvan. It enables us to view each nook and corner of India except the places of military and nuclear importance.

This 3D mapping tool uses images taken by ISRO’s seven remote sensing satellites, including Cartosat-1 and Cartosat-2 which was taken a year ago. This satellite can even capture the images of objects as small as a car on a road. We can see the images in 3D viewing environment with the least spatial resolution being 55 meters from Advanced Wide Field Sensor (AWifs). Bhuvan maps up to 10 meters as compared to 200 meters of Google and 50 meters of Wikipedia.

This prestigious achievement has been carried entirely by National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA), which is a part of ISRO located in Hyderabad. The entire nation salutes the work made by ISRO in bringing the technology in the hands of the people.

Google’s Free SMS tips in Africa

Google has announced the launch of Google SMS in Africa, where cell phones are prevalent but the internet penetration is low. Google SMS is a suite of mobile application, which will allow people to access information, via SMS, on a diverse number of topics including health and agriculture tips, news, local weather, sports and more. Most mobile devices in Africa only have voice and SMS capabilities, and so they are focusing our technological efforts in that continent on SMS.
Another service Google SMS Tips enables a mobile phone user to have a Web search-like experience. You enter a free form text query, and Google's algorithms restructure the query to identify keywords, search a database to identify relevant answers and return the most relevant answer.
The Internet search and advertising giant expects to improve search quality and the breadth and depth of content on Google SMS, especially on Tips and Trader. Google SMS is by no means a finished product, but that's what's both exciting and challenging about this Endeavour, the company says.

GOOGLE LAUNCHES OS

Google Inc. is planning to hit Microsoft Corp. where it hurts by challenging the software giant's dominance in the world of computer operating systems. The search firm said that it will begin offering its own operating system, called Chrome, in the second half of 2010. While Google already offers a host of products that compete with Microsoft, the new operating system is a direct challenge to Microsoft Windows, which is the most widely used operating system in the world. The new system will initially be targeted at netbooks which are small, inexpensive laptop computers used mostly for Internet access.

Google said the new operating system will make use of open source programming, which allows third-party developers to design compatible add-onsMany netbooks currently run a version of Linux, or Microsoft's old operating system, Windows XP. Microsoft has said its current Vista operating system is too big to run on the scaled-down laptops, but it said netbooks will be able to run its Windows 7 OS, set to debut in late October. The new operating system comes after Google launched its Chrome Internet browser late last year.

Google launches search tool 'Google Squared'

Google, already the king of Internet search, has rolled out an experimental new search product called "Google Squared." Google Squared does not provide a list of links to Web pages, like with a traditional Google search, but presents information derived from a query in a spreadsheet-like grid called a "square." Users of google.com/squared can then build, modify and refine their "square" through further Web searches. "Unlike a normal search engine, Google Squared doesn't find webpages about your topic -- instead, it automatically fetches and organizes facts from across the Internet," Google said in a preview of the product last month.Google Squared could be useful when a user needs to make multiple searches to find the information they want.It essentially searches the Web to find the types of facts you might be interested in, extracts them and presents them in a meaningful way.The Mountain View, California-based Internet search giant cautioned that Google Squared remains experimental and the technology behind it "is by no means perfect."

Google wins back domain from Class XII boy

Internet search engine giant Google has won a lawsuit against a 17-year-old schoolboy (Herit), who had acquired a domain name, googblog.com. To get the rights of the blogsite registered in the name of Herit Shah from Surendranagar, Google had moved the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), a specialised agency of the United Nations, on March 26, 2009. This week, WIPO, which works for developing a balanced and accessible international system in the field of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), ordered Herit to transfer the domain ownership to Google. The domain name — googblog.com — had become a bone of contention between him and Google, as ‘goog’ is the latter’s stock sticker at the NASDAQ. Herit, however, said he had no regrets for obtaining a domain name somewhat similar to Google.

GOOGLE SERVICES

GOOGLE  is an American public corporation, earning revenue from advertisements related to it the internet search, online, e-mail, social networking, mapping and image & video sharing services as well as selling advertising-free versions of the technologies. It has also offered lot to the users to enable them to utilise the following sevices..

Google Translate

Translate text or even complete webpages into eleven languages (you can even translate from “simplified” Chinese to “traditional” Chinese). As with all online translators, this won’t give you a 100% accurate translation (online translators can’t grasp things like idioms and contexts) but if you want to buy those crates of AK-47 assault rifles from that online shop inNorth Korea, Google Translate will let you overcome that Korean language barrier.

Google News

Google News has been around for a while and is old-hat to many. But how many of you knew that you could customise the page to only see the news you want to see? Or the fact you can set up customised RSS feeds for the news subjects that interest you? Never miss another news story about Paris Hilton ever again. You can also use the news archieve to find very old news stories, either scanned pages of publications or online sources. Some free, others not.

Google Pack

If you know an internet newbie who has not so much knowledge of the internet and software products, Google Pack provides an excellent software package to start with (although I personally wouldn’t choose Norton and Real Player).

Google Blog Search

One of my personal favourites as it helps me to find current blogs on my favourite subjects. Find blogs catering to various subjects. Want to know if anybody shares your overwhelming passion for navel lint by blogging about it? GBS will help you out.

Google Co-Op

Allows you to customize Google search results with your own self-rolled search engines. You can also provide information from your website as subscribed link or if you are a specialist in a particular subject area, you can even label & categorise search information which other people can click on. Again, this is another way you can actively help in making search much better.

Google Code

This one is for the computer geeks (of which I am a honorary member). Allows you to find and download source codes and developers API's to make mashups for Google products.

Google Labs

My favourite online playground (although the offerings at the moment are a little dull). This is where new Google products are first given the beta label and unleashed onto an unsuspecting world for testing and commenting. If you try something out in Google Labs, you are invited to email the Google team involved with comments / suggestions / complaints. The way I see it, this is a good way to influence future Google products by getting involved in a product’s development. How many Google users use Google products but don’t bother to provide any creative input to make them better? Next time a Google product doesn’t go as planned, don’t complain on a forum - contact Google and offer constructive advice & criticism!

Google Patent Search

If you’re in business and you’ve developed a hot new invention, don’t you want to check first to see if anybody got in there before you and filed a patent? Google Patent Search will show you the patent applications for pretty much everything so you can see right away if you are the sole inventor of the combined coat hanger and cigarette lighter.

Google Alerts

Want to know if anybody has been talking about you online? Maybe somebody trashed your website by insulting it in a forum? Or a disgruntled customer to your online shop made disparaging remarks in their blog? By setting up a Google Alert (with pre-defined search terms), you will get an email with links anytime Google finds something matching your keywords. Britney Spears probably has one set up now with the keywords “Britney” and “MTV Music Awards”.

Google Catalogs

Guys rejoice! (and women too). Want to buy some Victoria’s Secret lingerie? Or perhaps a new light-sabre is in order for you trusty Jedi Knights? Google now offers the chance to browse through scanned pages of catalogs and magazines such as GQ and Cosmopolitan to find products you might be looking for. No more raking in bins looking for catalogs of women in bikinis - Google now gives them to you online!

Google Video & Image Search

Search and watch millions of videos indexed from all over the web. Upload and share videos with the world. It becomes more popular among people of all ages. Google Image Search. The most comprehensive image search on the web. Enhance to view the images uploaded all over the world.

Google Chrome

Google Chrome is a new browser  for Windows that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier.

Geocoding It is the process of converting addresses (like "1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA") into geographic coordinates (like latitude 37.423021 and longitude -122.083739), which you can use to place markers or position the map. The Google Maps API includes a Geocoding service that can be accessed directly via an HTTP request or by using a GClientGeocoder object.

BLACKLE

Want to save energy??? Then go for Blackle... It is a non-profit website powered by google custom search, which aims to save energy by displaying a black background color for search results. The basic concept behind Blackle is that monitors can be made to consume less energy by displaying much darker colors. Blackle is based on a study which tested a variety of  both the CRT AND LCD monitors . Dispute over whether there really are any energy saving effects. This concept was first brought to the attention  by a post in blog, which estimated that Google could save 750.0 MWatt -hours a year by utilizing it for the CRT screens. The  Blackle homepage provides a count of the number of MWatt -hours that have supposedly been saved by enabling this concept.
